We've had to wear masks during rehearsals, which is not very comfortable to sing with, but people are eager to get back to this kind of thing," said Jack Brown, the chorus's executive director. @theMarket: Corporate Earnings, the Dollar, and the 'W'
By Bill Schmick,
03:43PM / Friday, May 27, 2022
In case after case, corporate earnings guidance was at best disappointing. Those companies that disappointed saw their stocks plummet, which took the markets down with them. But earnings season is almost over. Now what?   This past week we saw some stocks fall 30-40 and even 50 percent in one day on disappointing results. The volatility on individual stocks has been extraordinary. Many companies who beat on the top and bottom line and gave good guidance saw their stocks climb 15 percent or more in an hour or two, but the overall markets ignored that.   Time was that investors shunned Bitcoin because the crypto currency could move a percent or two a day. Nowadays, the

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A Pittsfield resident called Ward 2 Councilor Charles Kronick "the problem in this city" after he made transphobic comments last week and asserted that the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is not needed.

West Side resident Tonya Frazier called out the councilor during the open microphone portion of Tuesday's City Council meeting. Frazier has regularly spoken about the need for change in the community following the death of Miguel Estrella at the hands of police in late March.

"Councilor Kronick, you still are very blind and ignorant to the city's problems and you speak down to your colleagues and the residents in this city that

The owner of Cheveux Hair Clinic David Daunais received signatures from 26 business owners on the petition. Both the proprietors and the city recognize that the spaces are not getting the turnover that was expected when parking meters were implemented in 2017.

Last year's data showed that over 50 percent of parking on North Street lasts three hours and about 75 percent of on-street parking lasts four hours, Commissioner of Public Services

The Retired Investor: Wealth Effect Cuts Both Ways
By Bill Schmick,
04:54PM / Thursday, May 26, 2022
