DALTON, Mass. — The easement for Warren Farm Solar LLC was approved during the Select Board meeting Monday night. Citizens Energy, a non-profit energy company, is planning a 13-acre solar farm off Bridle Road. An easement was agreed upon following several negotiations between the town and Citizens Energy's lawyers, Town Manager Tom Hutcheson said. Department of Public Works Edward Hall and everyone involved with the special permit was also involved in the agreement and approved of it. Chief Jon M. Davine BOSTON — Northampton Fire Chief Jon M. Davine, who has nearly 25 years of experience as a firefighter, has been selected as the next state fire marshal. By statute, the authority for selecting the state fire marshal rests with the eight-member Fire Service Commission. Davine, who has been chief of Northampton Fire Rescue since 2020, was selected by the commission at its June 15 meeting and will assume his new position on July 31. He succeeds outgoing State Fire Marshal Peter J. Ostroskey, who has served since 2016. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Two Berkshire County dam projects were among 21 across the state receiving funding from the state's Dam and Seawall Program. Pittsfield's Sandwash Reservoir dam rehabilitation project is receiving $250,000 toward design and permitting; the Plunkett Dam spillway in Hinsdale is getting $82,500 for design and permitting. The Sandwash Reservoir is owned by the city of Pittsfield but located in the town of Washington. It flows into the Farnham Reservoir and from there into the Ashley intake to the Ashley Water Treatment Plant. The development program is open to children from any community. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The conservation commission on Thursday OKed a West Housatonic Street demolition and issued several certificates of compliance. The panel issued a negative determination on a request for determination of applicability for the demolition of a commercial building at 108 West Housatonic Street, which is in a riverfront area associated with the west branch of the Housatonic River.
