Pittsfield Police Investigating Dalton Ave. Gun Incident

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — On Friday Oct. 21  at approximately 5:48 PM, Pittsfield Police were dispatched to the area of Dalton Ave and Dartmouth Street for a report of shots fired.
 
911 callers observed a fight in progress with one of the people involved shooting a firearm. Witnesses provided clothing and physical descriptions of the people involved. 
 
All had fled the area prior to police arrival. A PPD K9 unit conducted a track in the area. An area search was conducted with negative results for those involved.
 
No one was struck during the incident. Ballistic evidence was found at the scene. A portion of Dartmouth Street was shut down for approximately an hour while the scene was processed. Video surveillance in the area is being reviewed. 
 
A vehicle involved has been identified. This is not believed to be a random incident.
 
This remains an active investigation.
