Pittsfield Teen Killed in Motorcycle Accident

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A 19-year-old Pittsfield man was killed Saturday afternoon after his motorcycle crashed into a guardrail on Government Avenue.
 
Police say the young man, whose name is currently being withheld, was operating his 2017 Kawasaki EX650 north just past 10 Francis Ave. at about 12:16 p.m. when it appears the operator lost control and crashed into the guardrail on the east side of the roadway.
 
Police, Fire and County Ambulance responded and the operator was transported to Berkshire Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
 
Government Drive was closed to traffic for approximately two hours as a result of this incident. This incident remains under investigation by Officer David Hallas of the Police Traffic Unit. Any witnesses are asked to contact Hallas at 413-448-9700, Ext. 560.
