PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Beginning Monday, Sept. 14, the Pittsfield Council on Aging will host new and modified congregate meal site offerings at the Ralph J. Froio Senior Center on 330 North St.

The new model will offer two seatings for seniors, the first at 10:30 a.m. and the second at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday.

Access to the building will not be allowed until the indicated mealtime designation as the center is still closed to the public.

"We are acutely aware of the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on food insecurity and social isolation for our senior community," Jim Clark, Executive Director of the Pittsfield Council on Aging said. "By offering this modified plan, our hope is that our seniors will be able to enjoy a healthy meal and socialize for a brief period, in a safe and friendly setting."

Guests are required to make reservations at least 24 hours in advance and must indicate which seating they will attend. Patrons will not be allowed to attend without a reservation.

Max capacity per seating is 20 people.

Guests will enter through the center's front door, where they will have their temperatures taken
and be required to utilize hand sanitizer before proceeding to the meal site. Individuals who
show signs of a fever will not be allowed to enter the building.

Masks are required unless seated at a table, and once seated, patrons cannot move to another
table.

"Take-and-Go" meals are still available for those who do not want to gather with other seniors.
Meals may be picked up at the center between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Reservations must be made by noon the previous day.

Cost for all meals is a recommended $2 donation for seniors over age 60.

Please note that while the center is still closed to the public, staff is available to assist in obtaining services for clients, scheduling appointments at the center, and arranging transportation needs via the center's vans.

For more information or to make reservations, please contact the Senior Center at 499-9346
between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
