PITTSFIELD, Mass. — For the month of September, First Fridays Artswalk will encompass a variety of outdoor locations and indoor locations

The First Friday Artswalk begins Friday, Sep. 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. and features three indoor locations along with a variety of outdoor art shows to accommodate social distancing.

Artists include Pittsfield High Shcool student art and over two dozen accomplished regional artists.

Beginning Sep. 4, and continuing all month, NUarts Studios and Gallery will display the artwork of at least seven artists in the storefront windows along Union St. just across the street from Barrington Stage Company’s Mainstage. Participating artists include Karen S Jacobs, Caroline Kelley, Peggy Morse, Linda Petrocine, Sally Tiska Rice, and Marney Schorr.

The Marketplace Café, 53 North St. will feature works by Philip Nommay.

"Art has always been a passion of mine and finding a balance between the art on the street and what is in a museum has always been my goal," Nommay said. "The two can coexist not only on their own but together as well. Whether it’s gentle or abrasive strokes from a brush or subtle or violent bursts from a spray can, each layer unleashes an emotion waiting to be seen to all who view it. Each individual takes something different, but all who see it take something all their own."

There will be an opening reception on Friday, Sep. 4, from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Lantern, 455 North St., will feature a brand-new mural by local artist Jesse Tobin McCauley. The Funky Phoenix, 441 North St., will also feature their original salvage art.

Hotel on North, 297 North St., will feature "Water, Land & Sky: A Berkshire Journey" by Marita O’Dea Glodt through Sep. 29, and Dottie’s Coffee Lounge, 444 North St., will feature "Home Work – The Universe – and Abstractions," with work by artists Richard Britell, Erika Larskaya, and Ashley Yang-Thompson through October.

Three new Pittsfield Paintboxes will be displayed throughout the city:

"Deep Sea Magic" by Michael Carty can be found at TD Bank at the Center Street and West Street intersection.

• "Power and Peace" by Stefanie Quetti and artists from ROPE can be found at the Silvio O. Conte Federal Building at the Center Street and Columbus Avenue intersection.

• "Strength, Love and Unity" by Robert Trzcinka can be found at the First and Fenn Street intersection

All art exhibits are on display in participating venues throughout the month. For more information on First Fridays Artswalk and to view a listing and map of all participating artists and locations, visit www.FirstFridaysArtswalk.com
