Williams Men, Women Win Little Three Cross Country Titles

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- Williams College junior Aidan Ryan covered the 6-kilometer course in 18 minutes, 52.96 seconds to take first place and lead the Ephs to a Little Three Cross Country Championship on Saturday.
 
The Williams women also took first place in the meet against Amherst and host Wesleyan.
 
The Williams men swept the top eight places in a dominating performance.
 
On the women's side, Williams' Sarah Tully placed second overall with a time of 15:08.42 on the 4K course.
 
Mount Greylock graduate Lilliana Wells, a Williams sophomore, placed 23rd in the field, finishing in 15:56.63.
 
Football
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- Middlebury's Will Jernigan scored from the 5 with 30 seconds left to give the Panthers a 17-13 win over Williams on opening day.
 
Bobby Maimaron threw for 205 yards and two touchdowns, and Frank Stola caught six passes for 151 yards for the Ephs (0-1), who are home next Saturday against Tufts.
 
Field Hockey
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- Williams jumped out to a three-goal lead and earned a 3-1 win.
 
Emily Batchelor, Catherine Torres and Shea van den Broek each scored a goal, and Abby Lloyd made one save for the Ephs (1-1, 1-1 NESCAC), who travel to meet Smith on Tuesday.
 
Men's Soccer
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- Will Felitto scored in the second minute of overtime to give Williams a 2-1 win over Wesleyan.
 
Dermian Gass scored a goal, and Michael Davis made four saves for the Ephs (1-2-1, 1-1), who go to Babson on Sunday.
 
Women's Soccer
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- Wesleyan earned a 2-1 win over Williams as Sarah Hammond made six saves against the reigning NCAA Division III champs.
 
Victoria Laino scored for Williams, which got five saves from Whitney Lincoln.
 
The Ephs (2-2, 1-2) are at Springfield College on Sunday.
 
Women's Volleyball
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Williams went 1-1 on Saturday to finish 3-1 at the Union College Tournament.
 
The Ephs swept their first three matches at the event in three sets before dropping a 3-2 decision to Coast Guard.
 
Williams (7-2) is at Springfield College on Sunday.
