PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Kevin Konefal had three hits at the plate and earned the win on the mound Friday as the Pittsfield American League 8- to 10-year-old All-Stars defeated Great Barrington, 16-6, to advance to the finals of the Don Gleason District 1 tournament.
The Pittsfield AL earned a rematch Saturday at noon against the Pittsfield NL in the final round of the double-elimination tournament at Deming Park. A win for the NL, and it wins the title; the Americans need to win on Saturday to force a winner-take-all final on Sunday.
On Friday night, Pittsfield AL score five times in the top of the second to jump out to a 7-0 lead, but Great Barrington rallied to cut the margin to two runs after three.
Pittsfield AL scored seven times in the top of the fifth to ice it.
Aiden Arseneau scored three times for the Americans.
Great Barrington’s Ian Lanoue had two hits and scored a run, and August Luf had two hits.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- At Belanger Field, Great Barrington scored seven times in the top of the second en route to a 10-0 win over Dalton/Hinsdale.
Matt Lowe and Jack Bissaillon combined on a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts in a game that lasted four innings.
Bassailon also had two hits and three RBIs. Sparky Blanchard had two hits and scored a run.
