PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Pittsfield Little League National League scored three times in the bottom of the fifth to break a 9-9 tie and beat the Pittsfield AL, 12-9, on Tuesday in the opening game of the 8- to 10-year old bracket of the Donald Gleason District 1 tournament.
Connor Paronto had two hits and five RBIs to key the Nats' offense. Cade Demary had three hits and a pair of RBIs, and Michael Bondini had three hits.
Kevin Knoefal had three hits and scored twice to lead the American League.
The NL had a 9-2 lead after four innings, but the American League scored seven times in the top of the fifth to tie it.
The Nationals turned a double play on a line drive to end the game in the sixth.
The Nats face Great Barrington on Wednesday at Deming Park in the winners' bracket. The AL will face the loser of that game on Friday. Both games start at 5:30.
