Williams Football Improves to 2-0

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- T.J. Dozier ran for 160 yards and a touchdown Saturday to lead the Williams College football team to a 36-14 win over Colby.
 
Bobby Maimaron completed eight of 18 passes for 110 yards as the Ephs improved to 2-0.
 
Williams is home again next Saturday against Trinity.
 
Women's Cross Country
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Emma Herrmann and Emily Harris placed seventh and eighth, respectively, Saturday to lead Williams to a second-place finish in the 6-kilometer race at the Purple Valley Invitational.
 
Williams finished with 81 points, trailing MIT, which took home the title with 67 points at the 13-team event.
 
Williams freshman Lilliana Wells returned to her former home course at Mount Greylock Regional School and competed in the 5-kilometer race, where Williams edged Worcester Polytechnic for the title, 30-31.
 
Men's Cross Country
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Ryan Cox placed fourth in the 8-kilometer race to lead Williams to a second-place finish at the Purple Valley Invitational.
 
The Ephs finished with 72 points to trail only RPI (41 points) in the 16-team field.
 
Volleyball
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Williams women's volleyball team Saturday dropped a pair of 3-1 decisions to Chicago and Illinois-Wesleyan.
 
The Ephs (7-5) come home to host Bowdoin on Friday night.
 
Field Hockey
AMHERST, Mass. -- Amherst's Kendall Codey scored twice, and the Mammoths erased a 2-0 deficit to earn a 4-3 win over Williams on Saturday.
 
Meredit Wright had a goal and an assist, and Emma Santucci made 11 saves for Williams (3-2, 2-2 NESCAC), which goes to Bates on Sunday.
 
Women's Soccer
AMHERST, Mass. -- Olivia Barnhill made 11 saves to backstop Williams to a 0-0 tie at Amherst on Saturday.
 
The Mammoths (4-1-1, 1-1-1) outshot the Ephs (5-0-1, 3-0-1) by a margin of 11-4.
 
Williams travels to Bates on Sunday.
 
Men's Soccer
AMHERST, Mass. -- Gregory Andreou and Chris Fleischer scored second-half goals to give Williams a 2-0 lead, and the Ephs hung for a 2-1 win over Amherst.
 
Aaron Schein made six saves for Williams (3-0-1, 2-0-1), which goes to Bates on Sunday.
 
Women's Golf
SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- Cordelia Chan carded a 75 on Saturday to lead Williams into second place after one day at the Mount Holyoke Invitational.
 
The Ephs are at 316, three strokes behind Day 1 leader Amherst, at the 16-team event that concludes on Sunday.
