LENOX, Mass. — Bishop Sudarshana Devadhar of the New England United Methodist Conference has announced Nami Yu as the new pastor of the United Methodist Church of Lenox at 6 Holmes Road.
Pastor Nami Yu’s appointment will be celebrated with a special installation service at the United Methodist Church of Lenox on Sept. 16 at 2 p.m.
Pastor Yu comes from previous appointments serving two churches as senior Pastor in Brattleboro, Vt., and Leyden, Mass. Prior to that she served as Sunday school minister at Wesley UMC of Medford while completing her studies at the School of Theology at Boston University, where she graduated in July of 2016.
Pastor Nami is a native of South Korea, where she accepted her calling into the ministry in her teens. She began a church ministry in 2009 as a Sunday school minister in Korean Holiness Church while attending Seoul Theological University. Earlier she was a student and a volunteer in the Youth with a Mission (international missional organization) in Honolulu. She joined the Discipleship Training School, which is a unique five-month discipleship training school that includes three months of lecture phase and two months of outreach phase. She then became part of the school's staff.
Nami said she is excited about this appointment because she sees an alignment of her goals and interests and that of The United Methodist Church of Lenox in that she wants to help "nurture disciples who are balanced between their personal holiness and social holiness, reach out to the community through extended ministry, and to comfort people, especially those who are sick, home bound and shut-in."
