The Pittsfield Cultural Council is seeking new members!

Would you like to have a say in how the local arts community is funded? Are you interested in learning about cultural programming in the city? Come join us! We're a volunteer group that allocates grants to Pittsfield-based arts and cultural organizations on an annual basis. For more information, contact us at: pittsfieldculture@yahoo.com

  MUSIC & NIGHTLIFE

This fundraiser, hosted by Alan Franco of Berkshire Salsa, Manos Unidas, and Berkshire Immigrant Stories, will be held at the Cultural Pittsfield (The Lichtenstein Center at 28 Renne Ave.). Enjoy dancing, Puerto Rican food and fun. There is a suggested donation at the door: $10 for the salsa workshop and dance, or $20 for the salsa workshop, dance and food. 100% of the proceeds go to the people of Puerto Rico! 4-7 p.m.

Rock On Workshop Teen Open Mic Night is a recurring series held on the last Wednesday of every month, hosted by Rock On students and interns at the Whitney Center for the Arts. This month's event will be hosted by Tyler Shaw. Sign-in begins at 6:30 p.m. and music runs from 7-10 p.m. There is a $5 admission fee, but guests and performers who cannot pay will not be turned away.

SUN Open Casting Call at The Lichtenstein Center
Photographer Gregory Crewdson will shoot a new series of images in downtown Pittsfield this summer, from July 9 - Aug. 12. He is looking to cast all the figures in the pictures locally, and will be holding an open call from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts (28 Renne Ave.) Crewdson is looking for Berkshire residents of all ages and types, as well as for vehicles from the '70s and '80s to be used in the photographs.

Pittsfield's city-owned community arts center, the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts, features nine working artist studios, a ceramics studio, a community room and an art gallery with changing exhibitions, classes, performances and more!

The Lichtenstein Center for the Arts will host BCC's Berkshire Immigrant Stories exhibit for the month of June. BIS is a grant-funded program at Berkshire Community College that collects and shares stories of immigrants in the Berkshires through a website hosted by the Tenement Museum in Manhattan.
 
Berkshire Immigrant Stories highlights immigration and migration stories of the past and present. Each story reveals one person's family experience. Collectively, the stories tell America's story and highlight the patterns that bind us together, no matter where we came from or how long we've been there. Read about the reasons why people came here and learn more about the objects they have chosen to tell their personal history.
