SAT Second-annual Harvest Festival On The Common

Cultural Pittsfield and the Downtown Pittsfield Farmers Market join forces to host the Second-annual Harvest Festival at the First Street Common on Saturday, October 14 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. This will be the final outdoor market of the season!

The fest will feature a Halloween Costume Festival (yes, wear your Halloween costumes to the event!) with giveaways for each participant, pumpkin painting and a "future farmer" photo booth. The Roaming Railroad will be giving FREE rides to all attendees. In addition to the weekly lineup of farmers, food producers and artisans, the market will be hosting chef demonsrations.

There will be live music with the Banulis & Miller Jazz Duo from 9-11 a.m. and The Hoping Machine from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. There will be a group run with Berkshire Running Center at 11 a.m.; fitness classes with Berkshire Yoga Dance beginning at 11 a.m.; tours of the renovated Zion Lutheran Church; a meet and greet with Dan Sadlowski, author of Finding Brooklyn and more!

SAT-SUN Pittsfield CityJAZZ Festival

The 13th annual Pittsfield CityJAZZ Festival continues this weekend. On Saturday, join Roger Squitero, percussionist with the Dizzy Gillespie Afro- Cuban Experience, for a FREE Latin percussion workshop at Wood Brothers Music from 1-2:30 p.m.

On Saturday night, celebrate Dizzy Gillespie's 100th birthday with a performance by the Dizzy Gillespie Afro-Cuban Experience, a 6-piece ensemble led by his long-term bassist John Lee. The Colonial Theatre at 7:30 p.m. $23/$38.

FRI Benefit for the Thanksgiving Angels at UCC

South Congregational Church UCC will hold a benefit dinner and concert to benefit our local Thanksgiving Angels. The Angels provide a turkey and all the trimmings to more than 1,400 local families each year! The concert will feature Tommy T. & Black Velvet. 6-9 p.m. $15.

FRI The S Word at The Colonial Theatre

The word suicide brings conversations to a halt and evokes primal fears of the darkest of all human experiences. Speaking the word itself is not the problem; it is the silence that follows. The Berkshire Coalition for Suicide Prevention, the Dept. of Mental Health, Berkshire Theatre Group and other community partners present a screening of The S Word. This documentary puts a face on this feared and misunderstood topic, delving into the hearts and minds of suicide attempt survivors and those who have experienced the impact of suicide. The event is FREE and open to anyone aged 15+. A panel discussion will follow the screening. 6 p.m.
