ADAMS, Mass. — The Harvest Fest will come to Bowe Field for the first time this Saturday.

Organizer Annmarie Belmonte said the idea for the event was to give people something to do this fall.

"Basically is there is not much to do around here, and, I hosted Hi-Jinx that went off without a hitch, so I thought I would try something else," Belmonte said.

The "Rising of the Corn" event is starting small at four hours, with hopes to grow next year.

The fest at the Adams Agricultural fairgrounds is being sponsored by Izzy's Diner and Pizza and Bounti-Fare. There is a $2 admission fee for adults at the gate, children are free; it runs rain or shine.

"I though a Harvest Fest sounded like a good idea and it’s something people from other communities can join in on too."

She said there will be live music and nearly 50 vendors, many of whom are local.

"There will plenty of great food and crafts," she said. "It would be a good opportunity to kick off some Christmas shopping and support local businesses."

There will also be pony rides, hay rides, various games, children's activities, and, of course, a beer garden and hot food and bakery items for sale.

Belmonte, who organized Hi-Jinx night for Susan B. Anthony Days and was the vendor organizer for the Berkshire Mountains Faerie Festival, said attendees will also get a preview of what is planned for next year's Faerie Festival.

The event runs from noon to 4 on Saturday.
