Friday The Mastheads Opens at The Lichtenstein
|
The Mastheads Construction Exhibit and Kickoff, at The Lichtenstein Center for the Arts from 6-8p.m., will showcase the final designs of five writing studios that will be constructed in Pittsfield in 2017, as the backbone of a new writers' residency program in the city.
The Mastheads project recognizes Pittsfield's legacy of writers of the American Renaissance, including Melville, Hawthorne, Thoreau, Longfellow, and Oliver Wendell Holmes, while providing a platform for new voices to engage with the contemporary city through the written word.
This exhibition will focus on the innovative construction techniques of the writing studios, which will be composed of panelized cross-laminated timber, such that they can be re-installed each summer to appear at new sites across the city.

Six Berkshire County bartenders are given a variety of Berkshire Mountain Distillers spirits and five ingredients from the farmers market to choose from. They have a couple of weeks to experiment and perfect their cocktail.
On the day of the event, attendees sample the drinks and choose a favorite to be deemed the "People's Choice."
After that, the show begins. Each competitor creates their cocktail LIVE for the judges to sample. Judges narrow down the competitors to three, who move on to Round Two. The three then are given a "mystery market ingredient" and must craft a cocktail in under two minutes. Judges sample the concoctions and announce the winner.
To close out the evening, DJ BFG takes over and gets the dance party going! Proceeds benefit the Downtown Pittsfield Winter Farmers Market. Hotel on North from 5-11 p.m.
