FRIDAY June's First Fridays Artswalk Is Here!
|
The June 3rd First Fridays Artswalk will encompass more than 15 different art shows featuring work by more than two dozen accomplished regional artists in Pittsfield's bustling Upstreet Cultural District, with venues as far south as the Whitney Center for the Arts and as far north as Berkshire Medical Center.
Artists will be present at most opening receptions from 5 to 8 p.m. A free guided walking tour will leave from the Intermodal Center at BRTA, 1 Columbus Ave. at 5 p.m. Click here for a guide.
The evening will culminate with an Afterwalk Party featuring live music by Rakish Paddy from 8 to 10 p.m. at the Whitney Center for the Arts, 42 Wendell Ave. Free and open to the public.

The Whitney Center for the Arts will hold a release party for Fingers First, Ben Kohn's long-anticipated first CD. Some of Berkshire County's finest musicians recorded with Ben on this album, and they'll all perform at the party: Andy Crawford, Andy Wrba, Bill Chapman, Charlie Tokarz, Daniel Broad, Jack Waldheim and Peter Adams. 7-10 p.m.

A professional art instructor will guide kids ages 6-12 through a painting of their choice at Berkshire Paint & Sip. $15 per session with your own materials; or we'll supply materials for an extra $10. 12-2 p.m.

Join Shiobbean Lemme of the Berkshire Running Center for your early morning cardio strength workout. This special 8-class series is held every Monday and Friday morning from 5-6 a.m. from June 3 - June 27. $40 for the series or drop-ins welcome at $10.

Paint "Hummingbirds and Poppies" to raise funds for the Elizabeth Freeman Center. $40 includes two hours of painting fun, all supplies needed to create your acrylic masterpiece on canvas and a generous donation to the Center.
Dinner and drink specials available. Hosted by the Berkshire Leadership Program Class of 2016 at Tavern at the A from 6-8 p.m.

This exciting new musical world premiere tells the story of three generations of magicians who find themselves under one roof for the first time in years. When the grandfather causes real magic to happen, they must confront their past mistakes and re-examine what it means to be a family. Now - June 11 at the St. Germaine Stage.

Morningside Community School from 5-7:30 p.m. The annual celebration will unite residents with community members and area professionals to celebrate the community and help instill a sense of pride in the neighborhood.
It will include a resource fair featuring local community organizations, such as the Berkshire Health Systems community outreach van and Berkshire Regional Housing Authority, to provide information about local resources and services. There will also be demos, interactive activities and games for kids, including a bounce house and the 12th consecutive neighborhood pride march. All activities are free, and food will be available for purchase.

presents a community exhibition titled Women and Their Olive Trees. The exhibit represents the art of 40 Israeli women from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, including Jewish, Muslim, Christian and Circassian, who through their love of art have created an environment of tolerance, friendship and sharing.
Four of the artists, two Jewish and two Muslim, will accompany the exhibit, and you can meet them on Monday at 10:45 a.m. at Congregation Knesset Israel, or later that evening at the opening reception from 5-7 p.m. at the Berkshire Museum.

The Berkshire International Film Festival
Friday is opening night of BIFF's Pittsfield events at the Beacon, and will feature a presentation of the 7th Annual "Next Great Filmmaker Award" and a screening of the documentary Life, Animated, followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers. Saturday and Sunday offer a full schedule of films for children and adults.

I Am Not Who You Think I Am
This photography exhibit by Julie McCarthy focuses on women who are homeless and their stories. The exhibit opens on Friday, June 3 during First Fridays Artswalk, from 5-8 p.m., and continues through Saturday, June 25.
