LENOX, Mass. — Berkshire School of Etiquette will host its six-week Youth Culture Program starting Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

The program targets boys and girls throughout Berkshire and Hamden Counties in grades one through five. Each session uses real dining and conversational situations to inspire a higher level of confidence in social situations.

“Often parents bring their children to adult functions and worry how they’ll behave. Good manners and other social graces have also been put on the back burner at a time when families are often too busy for regular meals together," Berkshire School of Etiquette founder & director Diane Massey said. "The six-week lesson program not only relieves parents of acting as the authority on manners, but also creates an engaging atmosphere where children learn and experience growth in poise and confidence.  Humor and easy-to-remember tricks help children learn how to put their best fork forward."

Topics include:  table manners, conversation tips, how to act in adult settings, learning introductions, the power of a smile and using direct eye contact, writing thank you notes, self-presentation and more.  Each lesson incorporates a theme table scape to encourage conversation. The highlight of the program is the dress up and five-course dining out experience at a local upscale venue. Past graduates have experienced venues such as The Wheatleigh in Lenox and The Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge.

Massey, is a graduate of the prestigious American School of Protocol, in Atlanta. She has held executive level positions for nonprofit education and arts organizations.  She has also served on numerous boards of directors throughout her career.
