PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Pittsfield Family YMCA announces open registrations for its Youth Outdoor Soccer League for all boys and girls ages 3 to 8th grade.

Held at Berkshire Community College’s field behind the Paterson Field House, the league’s dates are from Sept. 6 to Oct. 25.

The eight-week program is designed to be instructional in nature and non-competitive in practice in that the score is not kept. Children will learn fundamental soccer skills, the rules of the games and sportsmanship values by knowledgeable volunteer coaches. Children will be given a T-shirt with their team name and number on it, as well as an end-of-the-year award. This is not a travel league.

Five divisions are available: The Tappers division is for ages 3 and 4. The Mini Kickers division is for kindergarten and 1st graders. The Kickers is for 2nd and 3rd graders. Juniors is for 4th-5th graders and Seniors is for 6th-8th graders.

All divisions will play on Saturdays. However, the Kickers, Juniors and Seniors will also practice once during the week. Parents will be contacted by their coaches the days before Sept. 6.

The cost for members is $40. Non-members pay $65. To become a member, an annual youth membership is $36. It is the parents and players responsibility to provide shin guards and sneakers.

Knowledgeable volunteer coaches are also needed.

To register, visit the Y’s Welcome Center or download a registration form from www.pittsfieldfamilyymca.org.
