DALTON, Mass. — The state Department of Transportation and subcontractors will be paving Main Street (Route 8) beginning Tuesday, Aug. 7, through Friday, Aug. 10.

Paving will begin in the vicinity of South and Main streets. Paving will begin around 7 each morning and conclude at 6 p.m. or possibly later. Police Officers will be on hand to assist with traffic; however, there will be excessive delays.

We are urging motorists to allow plenty of extra time for their commutes during this time. There is a high possibility that re-routing of traffic may be in place during this time to minimize travel on newly paved roads. Park Avenue will be closed to heavy commercial traffic during this time and will be allowed to use alternative routes during this time period only.

For more information: Dalton Police Department at 413-684–0300.
