PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The 17th annual Jimmy Bernardo Memorial Ride is set for Sunday, July 15, at the Controy Pavilion at Onota Lake.
The charity bike ride is in memory of Bernardo, a 12-year-old Pittsfield boy who was abducted and murdered in 1990, and raises money to benefit Berkshire County Kids' Place and Violence Prevention Center, Inc., an accredited Children's Advocacy Center that provides intervention, prevention and treatment services for victims of child abuse and domestic violence.
Bike registration begins on North Street at 9 a.m. and the bikes will leave at 11 a.m., arriving at the lake around noon. Registration is a suggested donation of $25. The non-bike riding public is invited to join the free event for food, music and fun from noon until 8 p.m.
The Berkshire County Kids' Place will hold a raffle for a chance to win a $5,000 vacation coucher through the Berkshire Travel Group. Tickets cost $10 and can be purchased at the event or at Berkshire County Kids' Place, located on 63 Wendell Ave. The drawing will be at 5 p.m. at the event.
