|Kennedy Confirmed As BCC President|

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The state Board of Higher Education on Tuesday confirmed the selection of Ellen Kennedy as the new president of Berkshire Community College. Kennedy officially begins in her post on July 1.
Kennedy was the overwhelming choice on May 22 by the college's board of trustees to replace retired President Paul Raverta.
There were 38 applications for the post that were winnowed down to three finalists that included Kennedy, who has been serving has interim president since Raverta's departure in January. She had been vice president of administration and finance.
"I want to thank Ellen Kennedy for her willingness to serve in this role and look forward to her partnership in moving forward both the Berkshire Community College campus and our entire public higher education system here in Massachusetts," said Education Secretary Paul Reville in a statement. .
Kennedy presided over her first commencement on June 2, sharing the stage with commencement speaker Victoria Kennedy.
The Board of Higher Education met at Cape Cod Community College.
