PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Miss Hall’s School announces that six of its student athletes have received recognition for their performances during the fall sports season.

Senior Megan Grace, of Dalton, achieved All-New England status in cross-country; seniors Rachel Bell, also of Dalton, Crystal Lee, of New York City and Julie Rosa, of West Milford, N.J., were chosen as all-stars for the Western New England Prep School Volleyball Association (WNEPSVA); while sophomore Sophie Bellemare, of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., and junior Mary Newton, of Berkshire, Mass., were named among this year’s all-stars for the Women’s Western New England Prep School Soccer Association (WWNEPSSA).

Megan, a four-year varsity runner, secured All-New England status by placing 12th at the 67th Annual NEPSTA Division III Championships, held at the Canterbury School in New Milford, Conn.

Bell, one of the volleyball team’s tri-captains, is a four-year senior who has played varsity volleyball all four years, the last two as a starter at the outside hitter position. Lee, also a captain, is a four-year senior and four-year starter on the varsity volleyball squad. She played the “libero” position as a defensive specialist. Rosa is also a four-year senior and has played volleyball for four years, two years on the varsity squad at the setter's position. All three girls played critical roles in the varsity team's 10-6 record, which qualified the squad for its third-straight appearance in the WNEPSVA postseason tournament.

A two-year varsity starter at MHS, Sophie played right midfield for the Hurricanes and was the team’s second-leading scorer with eight goals. Mary, a three-year varsity starter is making her second consecutive all-star appearance and led the Hurricanes with eighteen goals from the striker’s position. Mary also plays varsity basketball and has twice been named an all-star for her play on the MHS varsity lacrosse team.

About Miss Hall’s School

Founded in 1898, Miss Hall’s School was one of the first all-girls boarding schools established in New England. Today the School is a nationally recognized, boarding and day independent secondary school that combines an exceptional college-preparatory curriculum with two acclaimed leadership programs, Horizons and the Girls’ Leadership Project. Both programs are central to our belief that, in addition to outstanding academic preparation, girls need additional skills that allow them to step confidently into the real world, where they will be expected to communicate effectively and authentically, voice opinions with resolve and respect, and be comfortable having influence, leading change, and contributing boldly and creatively to the common good.
