Newman Returns to Mass; Ordered To Be Held Without Bail

Newman is accused of shooting 18-year-old Keenan Pellot.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The suspect in Friday afternoon's shooting is being held at the Berkshire County House of Correction without bail.
 
Thomas Lee Newman Jr. entered not guilty pleas to single counts of murder and armed assault with intent to commit murder in Central Berkshire District Court on Monday.
 
Judge Michael Ripps ordered that he be held without bail.
 
Newman was arrested on Sunday morning in Utica, N.Y. and he voluntarily agreed to return to Massachusetts to face the charges related to Friday's shooting. 
 
The 18-year-old Newman is accused of murdering Keenan S. Pellot Jr. on Friday in front of Chewy's Barber Shop on Tyler Street.
 
Another 17-year-old man was injured in the shooting and is in stable condition at Berkshire Medical Center.
 
Newman will be back in court for a pretrial conference on August 10, 2015.
