WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Multiple police agencies from two states Saturday night were investigating back-to-back armed robberies in Williamstown and Pownal, Vt.
At 8:22 p.m., a masked man entered the Spirit Shop at 280 Cole Ave., brandishing a handgun and demanding the clerk open the cash register, Williamstown Police reported in a news release.
After a brief argument, the armed man fled the store without acquiring any merchandise or money.
About two hours later, a similar incident occurred at the Stewarts Shop convenience store in Pownal, Vt., about a quarter mile north of the state line.

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — On Wednesday Feb. 24, detectives and officers of the North Adams Police Department conducted a probable cause motor vehicle stop on a white 2012 Honda Ridgeline bearing Massachusetts registration #154VW5.
The vehicle was stopped based on a several month investigation conducted by Detectives into the distribution of illegal narcotics in the North Adams area. The motor vehicle stop resulted in the seizure of heroin, crack cocaine, and prescription medication all pre-packaged for sale and distribution.
The operator, Matthew Schilling, and the passenger, Scott Kastner, were both arrested by the North Adams Police Department. Schilling was charged with

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A juvenile was arrested on weapons charges Friday afternoon following reports of gunshots at the intersection of Francis and Danforth Avenues.
Police say at 3:04 p.m. dispatched received a 911 call reporting the shots fired and that several subjects were seen leaving the area by vehicle and on foot. One of the Police Department's patrol units arrived on scene and found a juvenile man fleeing on foot on Daniels Avenue.
The juvenile was found in possession of a handgun. He was arrested and charged with possession of a loaded firearm without a license and possession of ammunition without a license.

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Williamstown Police on Wednesday morning said no arrest has been made in the Feb. 9 incident that left a resident injured on North Hoosac Road.
Police Chief Kyle Johnson characterized as "total rumor" a report circulating around town that someone has been arrested in connection with the incident, a possible hit-and-run that sent Cheryl J. Leclaire, 54, of White Oaks Road, to Berkshire Medical Center in critical condition.
Asked about another part of the rumor — that a vehicle has been impounded in the case — Johnson again demurred.
