PITTSFIELD, Mass. - Police have arrested and charged a city man for the murder of Nikolas Carnute, who was gunned down on Wellington Avenue on Sunday night.

According to spokesman for District Attorney David Capeless, Kurt Hudson, 25, was arrested in Columbia, S.C. Tuesday night for the murder. Hudson is being held in South Carolina as a fugitive of justice and is being charged with one count of murder. Hudson's last known address was on West Union Street.

The 23-year-old Carnute died in the street from a single gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at Berkshire Medical Center.

Police were seeking information about a white sedan with a rear spoiler but it is unclear if any tips led to the arrest.
